CAF Announces Profit After Years in the Red
BY BLACKSOLVENT NEWS
At its General Assembly on October 6, 2025, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) reported a net profit of US$9.48 million for the 2023-2024 financial year, ending a stretch of fiscal deficits.
This turnaround was driven by a notable rise in commercial revenues, fresh sponsorships, and tighter financial controls. Total revenues hit approximately US$166.42 million, with US$81 million allocated to prize money, US$19 million to tournament organisation, US$35 million for football development, and US$21 million for governance and administration.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe also revealed that the organisation is nearing agreement on a long-term marketing and television rights deal potentially worth US$1 billion, which could be a game-changer for African football’s future revenues and global visibility.

Following England’s victory in the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup, the Rugby Football Union (RFU) has launched a five-year plan titled “Every Rose: Our Time”. The plan is designed to consolidate recent success and accelerate growth in women’s rugby.

The RFU notes that the 2021 Every Rose strategy led to a 38% rise in female participation and tripled funding over four years.
The strategy also emphasises investment in coaching, facilities, competition structures, and long-term player pathways, all with the goal of positioning England as a global leader in the women’s game.

South Africa is kicking off its defence of the World Test Championship (WTC) title with a two-Test tour of Pakistan, followed by another two-Test series in India in November.
With captain Aiden Markram, in place of the injured Temba Bavuma, the team recognises the challenges ahead particularly adapting to spin-friendly pitches and lower bounce conditions in the subcontinent. To prepare, they are training at the High Performance Centre in South Africa under similar conditions.
Markram acknowledged that being the reigning champions means every opponent will have extra motivation to beat them, making every match a test of resilience as much as of skill.
